Ok... just wow....

So, was writing last night after my Zumba class, and my main character gave me a twist that I totally wasn't expecting her to give me.  I followed her lead, but it still surprised me, after I wrote it.  I'll let it flow, see where it takes the story, but so far, I'm liking it.  Now, I have to change the prologue to flow with the twist!

I'm about to head to the store, and pick stuff for dinner.  I'm hungry, and it's lunch time for me!!  I had a great surprise this morning!  I weighed myself, and I was under 160 pounds again!!!  I've gained a few pounds back, and have now lost them!!  Yay me!!!  I wanted it off, before I got lazy again!  Don't want to get back up to the size that I was!!!

So, two good things happened to me!!  I love that my character gave me this little twist to work on.  I'm curious how my hero is going to react!!!!

Revisions... Revisions....

So many of them to do!!  Nick is going out tonight, so I'm looking forward to doing character sketches, and revisions... and more revisions...

I'm not happy with the storyline, and how it's going.  I could just keep writing, but I won't; I'm going to obsess about it all, which is stopping me from moving on in the story.  So, I'm going to be working on it tonight.  Getting everything all sorted out.

Should be an interesting evening.... curious on what the characters will be telling me about what's going to happen.  I have a few ideas coming at me that are promising.  I'll feel them out and see where they take me.  I haven't written in a few days, because I let the them talk to me.  I love that they have... They haven't given up on me yet!!

Here's to a weekend of writing!!!!

Weekend Time....

It is Friday!!  Colin is back from spending four days with my dad, and he had a great time!!  Didn't want to come home!  Now, he is with my BIL, so he's having a great time this week!  Busy week for him!

Me??  I had a great day today!!  I got to interview Carlyle Labuschagne, which was amazing, because she's such a lovely person!  Thanks so much for that Carlyle!!  I'm going to be writing tonight, continuing on making changes to the story.  There are parts that don't make sense now that I've changed where I'm going with it.  I had an original idea that I was going with, that has changed since I started.  So, that has changed the whole storyline now!

It's supposed to rain most of the weekend, so that means laundry, and cleaning up from the week.  Plus, more writing, if I'm able to get to my computer!  The chaos has started, since my son is back home with Dylan, so that means more stress... but I've missed it.  I've loved the quiet while I've had it, which was nice for my writing!!  I got more done then I thought I would!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Interview with Carlyle Labuschagne, Author of Broken Destiny!!!

I have been looking forward to this date for the past two or three weeks!!!  It is my pleasure to have my first author interview with the lovely Carlyle Labuschagne!!!!  I'm totally doing a happy dance right now!!!!

***

1. What is Broken Destiny about?
About a girl who carries a prophesy  that ties in with an ancient Minoan secret.  A girl who has to get to know her soul to fulfill  this prophesy to save her kind by the only way how - betrayal, death, honor, love, lust, lies, being possessed and ridiculed. Through it all she will find herself - for that is her Destiny.

2. Describe the characters of Broken Destiny for us!
OH gosh I could write an entire book on that! They are all just finding a way to survive and find truth to existence, they all have their weaknesses and strengths. But most of all they surprise you all the time. Meet the characters here : http://www.carlylelabuschagne.com/characters.html

3. How did the idea of Broken Destiny come about?
Well it was my way of understanding and being understood - of sharing a gift. I had written from a very young age - but until 2009 my time was write to create the world I have always lived in. For the love of science fiction and for the need to send a message - don't be crippled by fear - let love give you wings :D

4. Who is the main character of the book?
Ava is a confused teenager, the granddaughter of the founder of their kind - The Broken, genetically enhanced humans for reasons explored through out the series. She is blond, short, and has gray eyes. She's stubborn and loves too much too quickly. A drama queen.

5. Have you been working on the book long?
yes since November 2009 - long I know !

6. How long have you been writing?
Since the age of 12 - poems, and song writing - I will one day go back to write songs - right now Florence and the Machine have written all I have ever wanted to express! My first attempt at a novel I was fourteen, but loved my friends more at the time.

7. Who is your favorite author and why?
Thats pretty unfair - how does one choose when we have a universe of talented authors. I do enjoy Cassandra Clare, her writing is like water to my parched soul. Veronica Roth is pretty amazing to. Anna Carey , Rae Hachton , Kristin Cashore, Suzanne Young, Raine Thomas,  Becca Fitzpatrick, RaShelle Workman,  Elizabeth Miles. How long do we have ?

8. What or who inspires you to write?
My imagination! ha! Music, life, other books, any story has something to teach me.

9. I like to listen to music while I write, what do you like to do while writing?
Music is breathing to me. Music flares up those lost feelings, and words.

10. What kind of music do you listen to?
I love rock music!  You can find my muses here under playlist:  http://www.carlylelabuschagne.com/index.html

11. If you could have any five authors, dead or alive, over for dinner who would you choose?
Right now - Brynn Myers, Tish Thawer, Rae Hachton, Veronica Roth, Mary Lindsey - I'd like a dinner party of say 12 authors?
Leigh Fallon, Raine Thomas, Chelsea fine, Blaire Kensley, Angeline Kace, Tiffany King, Eri Nelson

12. What advice would you give a first time author like me?
Patience! Write, rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, hire an editor - hell two, get a proofreader, never doubt yourself, feel your way into the pages. Never fear, always love.

Thanks so much Carlyle for being my first interview!!!  I think for me, I would probably have a party of like 36 authors... and I know there would be more then that!!!

Review of Foretold by Raine Thomas

Centuries before she was born, Skye Tomaganuk was a subject of the most important prophecy in Estilorian history. As one of three half-human daughters born of the Corgloresti, Saraqael, she is part of the fulfillment of Knorbis’ Great Foretelling. What she doesn’t know is just what the Foretelling entails for her and her sisters.

As Skye and her sisters continue their training and visit each of the Estilorian class homelands, they soon learn how much impact their human emotions have on their father’s kind. Skye is particularly interested in the effect of emotions on her Gloresti, Caleb. Although she wants their relationship to progress beyond just that of protector and assignment, he proves particularly resistant to the idea.

She’ll soon have much more to worry about than a lack of romance, however. With the help of a traitor, Grolkinei infiltrates the Estilorian stronghold, imprisoning Skye’s mind and putting all Estilorians at risk. It leads them all toward the greatest battle of their kind, and puts Skye’s faith to the ultimate test.

OMG.... that's pretty much how I am starting this.  I loved this book, and it is my favorite of the three by far!!  I took my time reading this one, as I knew that I had to wait until Defy came out, and since I now have Defy to look forward to reading, I didn't have to wait any longer.

This is Skye's story, and I love Skye!!  I love the other two sisters, but Skye has this innocence about her that never fades; she is the eternal optimist.  Kind of like me... She is paired with Caleb, who seems very hard on her throughout the series, but once you get to know him, it's just his nature.  I was first surprised by how he was treating Skye in the beginning, but she softens him in a way that is very much her way.

I loved Caleb, as he kind of reminds me of my husband.  He's gruff, but a softie when it comes to Skye.  He is her rock, and seems to balance out the delicacy about her.  She seems like she can break at any moment, but she proves she is far from delicate when the time comes.

I love how in this story, you see the Esiltorians, who were separated, and only dealt with people in the same class, learned what it was to get to know each other.  One of my favorite parts of the book is how the sisters showed the Estilorians what teamwork was.  It was endearing, and a great and effective way to show it.  It forced people who didn't really know the others, to get to know them, and have a great time doing it.

The villian, Grolkinei, is fascinated by Skye, and has a hard time believing that one person can be so good and so pure.  Still, what he puts the sisters through for his own enjoyment, is heart wrenching and almost hard to read... almost, but not quite.  Plus, because of his fascination for her, seems to take a lot of what happens to them out on her.  Which again, is horrible because of who Skye is.

What the three books had been preparing for is the battle against Grolkinei, and what a battle it is!!  From the beginning to the end, it was filled with action and suspense.  It surprised me what happens with Grolkinei, but I was very happy to read it when everything went down!

Read it... Read it now!!!  You won't be disappointed!!!

Happy Easter!!!

Today is Easter Monday!!  I had a good Easter with the family!  The boys woke up me promptly at 6:15 in the morning to show me what they got from the Easter Bunny!  He put the baskets on the coffee table, as we have mice, and he didn't want anything to get eaten!

My dad came for dinner, and I made my ham dinner for everyone.  Colin went home with him, as he is spending the week in Canada, since he's off school.  He will be back home on Thursday, so it will be quiet without him there.  I keep forgetting how easy it is with one child instead of having the two! Dylan won't know what to do without him there to play with.

I'm thinking Thursday will be here before I know it.  Then... the chaos will begin again....

Divergent by Veronica Roth

I went out on Friday for a girl's night, and we went for book therapy at Barnes & Noble.  I saw this, and my friend bought it for me as a birthday gift!  This is one book that I bought on someone's opinion, and I'm really glad I did!!  I've just started, and I love it so far!!  The only thing that pissed me off, was that I was too sick to read it last night!

Happy Birthday to Me!!

It is my birthday today... I'm 36 years old... no, I mean, 25!!  I'm 25.. AGAIN!!  How did that happen???

I'm having an ok birthday so far.... I was sick yesterday, and it's gone over into today.  Not 100% yet, but at least I was able to get out of bed this morning. That was a good thing.

So, I'm thinking I'm going to do some shoe therapy or maybe some book therapy!  Don't know which yet, but I'll be happy no matter what I choose!!
